The West End and Covent Garden put the theatres and most of the sights on foot and cost the most. The City is quiet at weekends and often much cheaper then. Around King's Cross and Paddington you trade atmosphere for transport links and lower rates.
Who it suits
Good for first-time visitors who want to walk between sights, and for anyone travelling on the Underground rather than by taxi. Families usually do better a little outside zone 1, where rooms are larger for the same money.
How we report hotel prices in London
